This photo is from the late Dorris Minner collection. She was a descendant of General Watkins. General Watkins was a founder of Morley, Missouri and a charter member of the Morley Baptist Church. He was a soldier in the War of 1812, a member of the Missouri State Senate, Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives, member of the State Conventions of 1861 and 1875, a lawyer of 60 years active practice. As soldier, statesman and citizen, sans peur et sans reproche' (Without fear and without reproach). Watkins was a half brother to Senator Henry Clay of Kentucky.
