Scott County Historical and Genealogy Meeting

The Scott County Historical and Genealogy Society met Tuesday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the Riverside Regional Library, 44 N. Winchester, Benton, MO. James Baughn, Webmaster for the Southeast Missourian Newspaper, Cape Girardeau, MO gave a slide presentation of Historical Bridges in Scott County, MO. This was a great history lesson on Scott County.

Messmer Street Bridge (old Hwy 61) over a branch of Ransey Creek
just North of Kelso, MO. Built in 1919 by contractor Stanford Madden.
This bridge is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.



North Cut Bridge North East of Dielhstadt, MO, Built in 1923
rehabilitated in 1941, demolished and replaced 2019
