Bonnie Stepenoff will present a program on Thad Snow, the Flood of 1937 and The Sharecroppers' Roadside Demonstration of 1939.
Bonnie is an author who published a book entitled "Thad Snow: A Life of Social Reform in Southeast Missouri".
Thad Snow was a land owner in Mississippi County, Mo. who watched as sharecroppers fled from the river bottoms in 1937 when the Corps of Engineers breached the levee at Bird's Point. Two years later, in January 1939, he sided with the sharecroppers when they demonstrated against social injustice by camping out along highways 60 and 61 in the Missoure Bootheel.
