These photos are from the Deborah (Gibbs) Gunter collection. Montrose was the eldest son of Dr. Robert Bay Wade and Ann Henderson. He attended public school in Benton, the Bellevue Collegiate Institute in Caledonia, MO, and the Rolla School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, MO. At age 22, he was appointed Deputy under Sheriff J. B. Greer. He later served as Sheriff of Scott County and at the time of his death was a Deputy US Collector of Internal Revenue. He was killed at age 29 while having a "nightcap" with Judge O'Bryan, Charley Hawkins, Clark Russell, and W. H. and Mike Heisserer. He is buried in the Benton Cemetery next to his mother and father.
